A quiet sunday
by Edwin
This morning I joined my friends to their local church which was quite different than I’m used to. I think the average age of the church was about 65 years and we were by far the youngest people there. The songs were just as old as the most people there, but the preacher had a good message and it was an interesting experience.
In the afternoon we went shopping in the local mall. I didn’t visit an American mall so far, but I can tell you now: they are really huge. I scored an extra pair of Allstars and they were in discount 🙂 We ate something and hang out there for a while. Back home I played a game of chess with Rick, who I underestimated a bit, so I lost… But I really like playing chess a lot these days again.
It’s quite interesting actually that when you travel, you find out better what things you really like and what you miss while you’re traveling. For example, what I also experienced on earlier holidays is that I miss webdesign and webdevelopment from time to time. That really confirms me how much I like my job and that I’m having the right job for me. I do some little things for my Dutch clients from here, but the whole process from sketching until actually developing a website is of course not something I do these days, but I also experienced that when you step back from your work for a while that most of the time you get even more inspiration and ideas to work out when you’re back. Other things I find out is that I really like to write again. I didn’t do that so much in the Netherlands, but I try to write down every day here. It’s nice to think about what parts of the day you want to write down and how you’ll build up the story. Of course, as you can see, I do a lot of photography here, what is also something I really like to do. And that sums up some of the things I really like to do the most: webdesign, writing and photography. It’s nice to know what you really like to do. It’s not that I didn’t know that before, it’s more that I experience again how much I like it.
Having that said, the rest of sunday was also just nice and quiet. We had some friends coming over in the evening and hang out at home while it was raining outside. Elma bake a really delicious pie, because tomorrow is Rick’s birthday. At the end of the evening we went to bed on time. Tomorrow we have to get up at 04.30AM, because we go horseback riding in the morning at a place about 280 kilometers from here (yes, America is a big country…).
ben je verder te paard door amerika… we zijn benieuwd naar je nieuwe foto`s ……
