Long trainrides
by Edwin
While it’s so hot here in North Carolina, my days are getting more and more slow. Fortunately the weather seems to be a little cooler at the west coast.
Today I did some work at home and also packed my bag again. In the afternoon we went downtown to hang out and drink some coffee. After we said goodbye in the evening and I got my train tickets, I had to wait for about an hour at the train station what gave me some time to think.
First I wanted to see as much as possible of America. But now I decided that I want to enjoy this journey as much as possible, regardless of how much I see. That shift will make the journey a lot more relaxed and just takes away the pressure of time and the need to see everything. There simply is just way to much to see, even in three months. And especially when you don’t own a car.
The next couple of days I’ll be traveling a lot by train. In less than a week I’ll be in the trains for more than 60 hours. Sounds quite ridiculous, isn’t it? A sad thing is that there won’t be internet in the trains… Maybe a good lesson for me, cause I’m almost always online. I think I’ll miss the internet a bit. Especially because I kept in contact with my friends a lot lately, but that won’t be possible the next coming days. Although I won’t like that, somewhere I know that that might be a good thing.
Not being online also means I can’t update my blog, so I’ll just write down my stories in notepad and upload them later. It’s nice to hear how many people are actually following my blog, that encourages me even more to keep on writing. Tomorrow I arrive in New Orleans where I’ll stay till monday and then I’ll be traveling with the train again till I arrive in Los Angeles at wednesday morning. Now I think about it, that probably means I’ll just miss one day of blogging. Not that much actually, so you’ll hear soon from me again! 😎
