In the morning I first went back to the waterfalls to see if my tripod was there somewhere. I hiked back up, but didn’t found anything and also at the visitor centre of the waterfalls there hasn’t been anyone that returned it. It was quite discouraging to be honest, because I still had a bit of hope it would work out. When I was back at the car I wrote an e-mail to my insurance company, hoping that they’ll cover it. It just sucks, but when live gives you lemons…

Then I started a long ride east, all through Oregon. The destination of today was a cabin that’s owned by my friends Dawn and Debbie and where their mother now lives for a while. It was a beautiful ride to get there. First I followed the Columbia river for a long time and then I crossed wide open fields and in the end big mountains appeared at the horizon. Behind a big lake I found the cabin where Dawns and Debbies mum was waiting for me with a good meal and a nice glass of red wine. We had diner together and she showed me the cabin, a nice cosy house made of wood.

Although I love the nature here, I have to make up my mind that I’m completely disconnected from the rest of the world. There is no cell phone reach here and also no wifi. Probably there is internet in the village downtown, so I will be able to update the blog and check my e-mail tomorrow. I know it might sound stupid, but it just feels weird when you don’t have the ability to connect with the rest of the world, I’m just so used to it. Makes me think of a journey I took a couple of years ago to the Ukraine where I also was disconnected. I remember that it first took some time to get used to it, but then I could also really enjoy it. For now I’m still in phase of getting used to be disconnected to the world. But it’s probably just for a couple of days.
