Chilling in Boston

Another thing on my list was the famous cube of glass above the Apple Store at Fifth avenue. But like I wasn’t disappointed enough by Apple this year, the cube of glass was in construction and what was left was just a boring Apple store. So after two minutes I left Fifth avenue again, bought some icecream on my way and headed back to the appartment to pack my bags. Although I didn’t see everything of New York yet (even for me that’s not possible in four days) I had the feeling that it was time to travel again. So I booked a bus to Boston. I checked out the trains the other day, but the price of a trainticket was about $120,- while the bus is just $13,50 (www.megabus.com).

Why the bus costed only thirteen dollars became clear this morning. While waiting in line for the bus some guy of the bus company told that the bus still needed a gas refill and would depart half an hour later. Eventually we departed 45 minutes later, but we didn’t drive 5 miles yet when the bus driver was crossing a red light and we were stopped by the police and the driver got a ticket. That also took about half an hour and we ended up in the rush hour what all gave us a delay of about two hours. But I happen to had the best seat (upper floor at the front row), so I had nice view during the trip. I also played a nice game of checkers with an old guy sitting next to me and last but not least, the bus also has Wifi. Really slow internet, but still a nice feature.

Many hours later I arrived in Boston, what is such a big difference with New York! I didn’t see much of the city yet, but the whole atmosphere is different here. When you go into the subway you see different kind of people and just by how everyone looks you can tell you’re in another city. I had a nice walk through Cambridge, which is on the other side of the river as Boston. The houses here are so beautiful, I really had the feeling I was walking in a ferry tale city or old movie or something. It was raining a bit and I had quite some luggage, so I didn’t took any pictures yet, but I hope to take some nice pictures of the neighbourhood tomorrow.

I was quite pleased when I arrived at the place where I can stay for a couple of days: a very big studenthouse with nice people. I am looking forward to stay here for a couple of days!
