A perfect day in Yosemite

by Edwin

After a good sleep and a nice breakfast we prepared ourself for what turned out to be one of the best days of my journey. We made some sandwiches, packed our bags and went in the car. Direction: Yosemite National Park.

The ride of about two hours to the park was already very beautiful. Almost the whole ride I was watching outside while saying “aah” and “ooh”. The nature here is so beautiful! Dawn and I happened to both like Irish music what was a nice surprise so we listened all kinds of Irish music during the ride to Yosemite. Dawn seems to know this area like the back of her hand, she knew exactly where to stop for the best views.

When we finally arrived in the park everything was even more beautiful. We parked the car somewhere and went for a hike to some Sequoia trees, which are the famous huge old trees. I already saw them some time on TV and on pictures, but it was so cool to finally see them in real life. I can tell you: those trees are huge! 🙂 Another nice thing of the hike was that we were the only one there. It was so quiet, all you could here was the wind blowing through the trees and the water of a brook streaming nearby. After we had lunch next to the Sequoia trees we hiked back to the car and went further through the park.

All day long when I was completely overwhelmed of all the beauty of nature Dawn responded by saying “You’ve seen nothing yet”, implying that it would become even more beautiful. She was totally right. We did another hike to a big waterfall, a long walk but totally worth it. I really think Yosemite National Park really is one of the most beautiful places of the United States. And we just saw a part of it. I think you’ll need at least a couple of days to see the whole park. Around sunset we got ourselves a big pizza (American size :D) and ate it at beautiful location with a nice view on the mountains, while the sun was going down.

Then it was time to get into the car again, we still had a long ride to get back home. It was a little hard to stay awake, because it had been a long day full of hiking. Somewhere halfway in the middle of nowhere Dawn made a quick stop to show me the stars. I wonder if I had ever seen so many stars before, it was so beautiful! Back home, Steve already warmed up the jacuzzi so we ended the day by relaxing there. Like I said: this was absolutely one of the best days of my journey so far.

This weekend we go camping at a big lake, so probably no updates till next week 😎
