Yellowstone! :D

I think it was about ten minutes driving from the place I stayed for the night to the west gate of Yellowstone National Park, so I entered the park quite early in the morning. The weather was cleared up again and everything was absolutely beautiful. Only after a couple of miles I saw a lot of cars parked next to the road. I stopped too, wondering what all those people were doing there. I soon found out why: about 100 meters away there was a big elk laying in the grass. It’s funny, normally people say that I have a big camera, but my camera was quite small compared to all the real freaks here. Lenses of more than $10.000,- everywhere. But like I always say: “It’s not the camera that makes a good photographer”. All day long I saw people with big cameras and big lenses, but I was surprised sometimes about what kind of pictures they make, not that impressive at all. But then again a good lesson from life: Don’t compare yourself to others.
Enough about the cameras, that just shows how much there is to see here. The landscape in Yellowstone National Park is breathtaking from time to time. It also has a lot of wildlife everywhere. Don’t be surprised if you suddenly see a lot of cars standing still at the middle of the road or if some wildlife suddenly crosses the way, happens here all the time. There are many elks (big deer) and bisons here. It’s really cool when suddenly a herd of bisons cross the road. There are supposed to be bear here too, but I didn’t see those yet. Yellowstone also has some huge waterfalls, even bigger than I had seen so far. And last, but not least: from time to time you see steam coming up at the horizon and when you come closer you see that it are geysers. They are nice to see, but really smelly from nearby. My tip of the day: close your windows when you cross the steam of a geyser. 😉
All day long I drove through Yellowstone. It’s really one of the most beautiful places of America I’ve seen so far. If there’s anything you need to see when you come to the USA, it’s by far the National Parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone.
In the evening I went to a small village just outside of the park to stay there for the night, for two reasons: less wildlife and maybe some wifi to update the blog. 🙂 I’ve said this before, but again this was one of the most beautiful days of the journey!
P.S. I uploaded two stories just after each other, so it could be that you’ve missed the previous one.
Can’t wait to see the photos Edwin… xo
