The road adventure has begun!

I started the day with doing some shoppings for my road trip. I got myself an air mattress, I could borrow a sleeping bag an pillow from Dawn and Steve and I got myself a lot of water in a cooling box. I packed my bag and said goodbye to Dawn and Steve. It was quite sad to say goodbye to them, but fortunately we see each other again in a couple of weeks. Before I went to America I already said that the best thing of traveling alone is that you always meet new people, but I didn’t expect to get such good new friends. I am really happy with that. 🙂

The first direction of today was San Francisco to start the coast route, Highway 1, from there. The last half hour before SF there was a huge traffic jam, so that was a little boring but not a big thing, because I had all the time of the world. I didn’t went into San Francisco this time, because of the lot of traffic and because I was already there earlier this week. Instead of going into the city I took the Richmond-San Rafael bridge in the north. On the other side of the bridge I enjoyed my lunch at the waterside.

After the lunch I traveled further into the direction of the coast. On the way I crossed the Muir Woods Park: more of the big Sequoia trees and some nice trails. It was nice to see, but the trees weren’t so big as the ones Dawn and I saw in Yosemite National Park. When I had walked a short trail and saw the main things of the park I continued the journey.

At the coast it was quite misty, so the view wasn’t very wide. It was still nice to see the coast line with some nice rocks in the water. It was also a lot colder at the coast and because it was already getting dark I decided to stop in a small village that I crossed called Stinson Beach to stay there for the night. I parked my car somewhere in the center of the city where I discovered that I was so lucky to have parked just next to the local library with free wifi. 🙂 It was quite exciting to sleep in the back of my car, but after a long day I finally felt in sleep.
