Beautiful Colorado

by Edwin

An American friend of mine who lived in Amsterdam always bragged about how beautiful Colorado is. Most of the time I just replied with “yeah, sure” or something like that, simply because I didn’t know. After today I have to admit that it’s really beautiful indeed. Almost as beautiful as montana. 😉 Just kidding, it’s really nice here. In the morning I drove from Utah to Colorado which is a very nice road with big mountains and red rocks. The direction of today was the Rocky Mountains and the closer I got there, the more beautiful everything became. I entered the Rocky Mountains National Park and started driving up to the mountains. When I finally arrived at the top of one of the mountains I had a beautiful view, but it was also very cold up there. There even was snow next to the roads so I didn’t stay outside for to long, but driving through the mountains was also very nice.

In the evening I reached Denver, a big city in a valley. Actually it’s more like a clustering of many small places. I called my friend Jennifer that I know from Amsterdam (the one that was always bragging about Colorado). She recently moved back to her parents, here in Denver. She was really surprised to hear that I was in her city and she was happy to meet again. She happened to have an evening with her church that night and invited me to join. It was a nice evening, there was also a lot of food, which I of course really appreciated after many days of fast-food. Later that night we went to her home and I met her parents who are great people too. The house was big and they also had a hot tub in the back yard, so I ended the day by relaxing in the hot tub. 🙂 They made me feel really welcome here and I can stay here as long as I want, so I probably stay here for a couple of days before I continue my road trip.
